About this policy

Bark Yaar is a local commerce and discovery platform for Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger. This policy explains the data processed by the mobile app and its services.

Data we process

We process information required by the features you choose to use.

• Account: first and last name, phone number, email address, country, language, photo and profile information you provide.
• Commerce: addresses, favourites, cart, orders, bookings, businesses, catalogues and professional documents supplied by sellers.
• Content: messages, comments, Reels, images, videos, audio and files you voluntarily publish or send.
• Location: approximate or precise location only after permission, to show nearby offers, share a place or provide delivery information.
• Device and security: session and notification tokens, IP address, device type and technical logs needed to operate the service, prevent abuse and diagnose issues.

Purposes

We use this data to create and secure accounts, provide the marketplace and messaging, process orders and bookings, show local content, send requested notifications, moderate content and improve service reliability. Bark Yaar does not sell personal data, and the first version does not include targeted advertising.

Sharing and service providers

Data may be processed by hosting, storage, notification, mapping, email and authentication providers required for the service. Information needed for an order or conversation is visible to the relevant parties. Public content is visible according to its publication settings.

Retention and security

Data is retained while the account is used, then deleted or anonymised after a deletion request, except where information must be kept to meet a legal obligation, prevent fraud, resolve a dispute or preserve transaction evidence. Communications use HTTPS and mobile sessions are stored in the operating system’s secure storage.

Your choices

Camera, photo, location and notification permissions can be refused or withdrawn in phone settings. Profile information can be corrected in the app. Account deletion is available under Profile → Settings → Delete my account and on the Account deletion page.

Children

Bark Yaar is not intended for children under 13. Users can report content or block another user. Reports are reviewed to limit abusive content.
